We staff full time phone nurses to answer your questions during office hours. Our physicians share on-call responsibility and are available 24 hours a day for medical emergencies. We ask that you limit your calls to the on-call physician to emergencies only.
We provide nurses to answer patient phone calls during our regular office hours. We rotate our nursing staff in this position, so you may speak with a different nurse each time. Our nurses are available to answer your questions regarding medications, symptoms, pregnancy, etc. At times, it may be necessary to leave a message for the phone nurse. Please make these messages brief, as the nurse will elicit more details when she returns your call. We are able to return most calls the same day, if your call is received before 3:00 PM. If you do leave a message, please be sure to leave us an accurate call-back number and a range of convenient times. We have found that returning your call to a pager is not an efficient means of contacting you, and it increases the possibility of "phone tag".
Prescriptions and Refills
All prescription drugs are potent medications. When refills are requested, it is best that we review your chart and write a note regarding the refill. Therefore, please have your pharmacy fax us a request for refill at least 24 hours in advance of your anticipated need. Some refills will require a timely exam before extension, so please consider this well before you run out of medicine. Prescriptions for narcotics cannot, and will not, be filled after-hours or on weekends. If you do need to call after-hours for a prescription, please have your pharmacy phone number available to help expedite your refill.
